This is the first in a series of 12 "social experiments" titled: Syncopated Movement In Twelve Parts.
"Early repression of sexual impulses causes a subconscious desire to fail." This piece was conceived with the intentions of getting people to drop their sexual inhibitions for a night. Most people wake up every morning and experience their lives through a monotonous stream of events. We decided to try and change that by having people actually have an "experience." We put together two groups of people to stage simultaneous demonstrations outside of a club in Miami. We had a group of people representing a conservative action group called "Stability Through Clean Living." These people, dressed in button down shirts and ties, passed out anti-hickey literature and talked to people as they got out of their cars to enter the club. The second group was called "The International Association For Pursuing The Optimal Experience." This group passed out pro-hickey literature and posted propaganda posters inside the actual club. The overload of conflicting ideas and invasion of personal space forced everyone at the club to be involved in some way. The final product is 20 photographs of people that allowed random strangers to give them hickeys.
